Anyone else dealing with strange school injury stories?

So, last Thursday I got a call from my kid’s school clinic saying he slipped on some mulch and fell. They said he might need an X-ray, but didn’t seem too worried about it. I rushed over, and when I saw my kid, he looked miserable. I had to carry him to the ER, where they found two broken bones! The whole time, my kid kept saying he just slipped. That seemed odd to me, but I thought it could happen. Fast forward to yesterday, and I talked to him about what went down. That’s when he told me another kid actually pushed him and that the teacher was right there! We never got any info from the school about that. I emailed the principal asking for CCTV footage, but they said they don’t have cameras in that area. Then they told me a different story about him falling off playground equipment! Something doesn’t add up. My kid had surgery because of this and suffered a lot, and now I’m just trying to understand what’s really going on. I don’t even know what I’m looking for here, but I could really use some legal advice.

Oh wow, that sounds super frustrating. I’d definitely push for more answers from the school. Have you been able to get in touch with anyone who saw what happened?

Yeah, the principal mentioned another teacher saw it all, but they didn’t give me the teacher’s name. So now I’m just confused about who’s telling the truth.

That’s weird. Why wouldn’t they tell you who saw it? If it was an accident, there shouldn’t be anything to hide, right?

Ugh, that’s awful. I hope your kid’s doing okay now after surgery. Honestly, if they can’t give you any solid answers, I’d definitely be talking to a lawyer. Sounds like there’s more to this.

Thanks! He’s doing better now, but I’m still trying to get to the bottom of all this.

You should definitely follow up on the CCTV footage. They might be hiding something. I’d also reach out to any parents who were around or know what happened.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking too. Parents could have seen something that helps clarify things.

Did they at least give you a clear reason for why they couldn’t provide the footage? Sounds like they’re giving you the runaround.

They said the cameras aren’t even in that area of the playground… which is weird since it’s school property.

I feel for you! There’s nothing worse than not getting the truth when your kid’s hurt. If it were me, I’d ask for a formal incident report from the school.

That’s a good idea. I haven’t gotten one yet, so I’ll definitely ask for it.
