Anyone else getting hassle over homeschooling?

I pulled my daughter out of regular school and switched her to homeschooling after we were released from truancy court. She’s thriving now and is already halfway through 9th grade since August, but the county and court keep bothering us. They’re saying I could end up in jail because she’s not in traditional school. She’s almost 16 and wants to drop out entirely because of the stress. Anyone else been in a similar situation?

That sounds frustrating! Did you officially notify the school district about the switch to homeschooling?

Yeah, they have her transcripts and everything, so I don’t get why they’re still giving us trouble.

Maybe they just need extra documentation? Sometimes they’re picky about paperwork.

Is the program you’re using accredited? That sometimes makes a difference with school districts.

Yes, it’s fully accredited. Thought that would be enough to satisfy them.

It should be! Seems like they’re just being difficult.

Have you considered speaking to an attorney? Sometimes that’s all it takes to get them to back off.

Yeah, it’s crossed my mind, but I was hoping it wouldn’t come to that.

Even a consultation could help, just to know your options.

Wow, halfway through 9th grade already? They should be impressed, not giving you grief.

Exactly! She’s doing so well, and this is just discouraging her.

Sounds like they’re not seeing the big picture. Progress should be what matters.

Does she have the option to drop out at 16? Might be less stressful if she has that choice.

I think so, but I was really hoping she wouldn’t feel forced to because of all this pressure.

Maybe if the district sees her progress, they’ll back off. Worth pushing for some understanding.
