I just got a new laptop, an Asus Zenbook 14 with an Intel Core Ultra 7, Intel ARC IGPU, and 16 GB of RAM. I was super excited to play some games, and while Football Manager ran perfectly fine, I’ve hit a snag when using my external monitor, an AOC 27G2U5 connected via HDMI. The first thing I noticed was that the display wasn’t as sharp as I expected. Then, when I tried playing a game, the FPS dropped and everything started to stutter. I’ve tried a bunch of things from different threads, like using different HDMI cables, updating drivers, turning off V-sync, and making sure the refresh rates match between the laptop and monitor. Nothing seems to be working. My monitor is set to 1920x1080 while my laptop runs at 2880x1800. If anyone has any ideas or solutions for this, I’d really appreciate it.
Hey, I feel your pain. I had a similar issue a while back with a different monitor. Have you checked if your laptop is set to use the external monitor as the main display? Sometimes that can help with performance.
I’ve heard that sometimes using HDMI can cause issues with certain laptops. Have you tried using a different port or maybe a DisplayPort if your monitor supports it? That might give you better performance.
This might sound silly, but have you made sure the monitor’s refresh rate is set correctly? Sometimes it defaults to a lower rate, and that can cause stuttering.
I had a similar setup and faced FPS drops too. Make sure your laptop isn’t set to power-saving mode. That can throttle performance when gaming. Check your power settings.
Also, if you have any background applications running, they might be using up your resources. Try closing anything you don’t need while gaming and see if that helps.
