Hey everyone, I’m in a bit of a bind. My university is not being helpful at all, and I’m running out of time to finish my PhD. I’ve put in so much work, but I’ve faced tons of issues, like lab closures, technical problems, and even mental health struggles. Now I only have 45 days left to finish up, and I’m feeling stuck. Anyone gone through something similar? How did you push through?
I totally get what you’re going through. My uni wasn’t much help either when things went south. Have you tried talking to the dean about possibly extending your deadlines or reducing fees?

Yes, I agree. You should definitely talk to the dean and lay out all the challenges you’ve faced. They might be more understanding than you think!

Good idea! I’ll mention how the pandemic and everything affected my research. Hopefully that’ll help make my case stronger!
I had a similar issue with my university not being supportive. Have you considered asking if you can complete your research remotely or change the deadlines?

I’m actually thinking about asking to finish it from Saudi and maybe reduce the fees. I just need to find a way to get them on board.

That sounds like a solid plan! If they won’t budge, it might be worth looking into your rights. They can’t just refuse a reasonable request.
Maybe getting legal advice could help? If they’re not cooperating, there are legal ways to get them to take things seriously. It might be worth exploring.

I hadn’t thought about legal help yet, but it could be a good option. I’m just trying to figure out what to do next.
Don’t forget to mention the mental health challenges too. It’s part of your story and can explain some of the delays. It could make a big difference in how they view your situation.

Yeah, I’ve been struggling with mental health, but I feel better now. Hopefully, that’ll help them understand the delays more clearly.
It sounds like you’ve been through a lot. I’d recommend writing a formal letter to the dean outlining everything. A clear and professional approach might help get your point across better.

Thanks for the advice! I’m working on an email now. Hopefully, if I explain everything clearly, they’ll be more understanding.
