I just got a 2024 SX Prestige. It calculates gas mileage for me, but I still like to do it the old-school way (miles driven since last full tank divided by gallons added). The KIA’s number is always about 1.5 MPG higher than what I calculate. (Neither is great, to be honest.) Can I trust the KIA’s numbers? Would love to think I’m getting better mileage!
I did a road trip from Knoxville to Austin and back. The car said I averaged 27 MPG, but my own math showed just over 25. So yeah, the computer seems to overshoot a little.

Thanks for confirming! Still, that’s decent mileage for a long trip.
I use the Fuelio app and track it myself.
I’ve owned 5 different car brands that calculate MPG. None of them have been accurate.

That’s what I was kind of thinking too, but I don’t really know how they work, so it’s hard to judge.
I got 435 miles on a full tank last weekend. 370 miles were highway, the rest was city driving.

Wow, that’s awesome. Were you using eco mode? Do you think the different driving modes make a difference?

Yeah, eco mode going around 70-75mph.
In smart mode, I’ve seen between 21-26 MPG, and I’ve pushed close to 30 MPG in comfort mode.
I use adaptive cruise control and try to avoid heavy idling, and that helps stretch the gas.
I also don’t use auto stop-start because it wears out the battery, and I don’t like cycling the engine too much.

Same here. The car’s estimate is always at least 1 MPG higher than my actual math when I fill up.
