I’ve been having a hard time getting ADA accommodations approved at work, and it feels like it’s turning into harassment. Instead of the LOA specialist, the Chief HR Officer is handling my case, and I think it’s making things worse. Is it normal for them to be involved? Anyone else dealing with this?
That’s rough. Normally, the LOA specialist should be in charge to keep things unbiased. Getting the CHO involved seems unnecessary.

Exactly! The LOA specialist’s whole job is to stay neutral. CHO stepping in can feel intimidating.
@Noah
Right? I feel like it’s making it harder for me to even request what I need.
Maybe you could ask them why the CHO is involved instead of the LOA specialist. Seems like a fair question.

Good idea. I might ask that—just not sure how to bring it up without sounding confrontational.

Totally. Just be direct—‘Why’s the CHO involved in my accommodation process?’ You deserve to know.
That really sounds off. ADA accommodations are supposed to be handled by specific staff, not high-up executives.

Yeah, exactly. I feel like they’re just making it harder by doing it this way.
Plus, it’s awful that you’re being harassed just for asking for accommodations. Not okay at all.

For real. OP should definitely get some clarity on why they’re being treated this way.
@Val
Thanks. Sometimes I think maybe I’m just overreacting, but it’s starting to feel intentional.
OP, make sure you keep a record of everything happening. It’ll help if you need to escalate this.

Yeah, I’ve been saving all the emails and notes from meetings. Appreciate the advice!
