Anyone game while working on a cruise ship?

I’ve always loved gaming, and soon I’ll be working on a cruise ship as crew. Just wanted to ask if anyone else has ever brought a video game or notebook to play during their off hours?

Not exactly the same, but my cousin works on a navy ship. He brought his Xbox and TV, and keeps it on board.

I remember hearing about that navy ship where some people put a Starlink on it for internet access. Hilarious. Also, apparently, an Aegis cruiser doesn’t have the electronic warfare systems to detect local loud transmissions… seems a bit odd, but I guess that’s not my area.

I brought my Switch last time we cruised, and I’m bringing it again in two weeks! Just do what works for you.

I used to work on a cruise ship. Yes, many crew members bring gaming devices for their rest hours. I took a gaming laptop on a few contracts and even brought an eGPU enclosure once. When I won Crew Bingo, I got a Switch too! Consoles are also pretty common. Just remember, online gaming is almost impossible, so you’ll want to stock up on single-player and local multiplayer games.

The internet is really expensive and slow.

My partner and I played World of Warcraft together on a Celebrity cruise without any connectivity issues. We were staying in a suite, so maybe we got upgraded internet (Starlink or something), but we didn’t have any problems.

You should check out a Steam Deck. I just got one and absolutely love it. I’ve been able to play so many PC games I couldn’t before because I didn’t have a gaming PC. I mostly play offline, single-player games, and it’s the best handheld I’ve ever owned!
