Anyone had issues with school bathroom conditions and considered taking it to the media?

The bathrooms at my son’s school are in rough shape, and I’m seriously thinking about raising the issue to the media to get some action. I thought about taking photos of the empty bathrooms to show what it’s like. Has anyone gone this route before? Would I run into problems for taking pics on school grounds?

Yeah, I had a similar experience with my kid’s school. I took pictures but got permission first—just to be safe.

That’s smart. Asking ahead could keep things smooth. Did the photos help get things fixed in your case?

A bit! The school finally got funding to improve the bathrooms. Media involvement does push them to act sometimes.

You should check if the school or NJ has any rules about taking pics on school property. Don’t want it to backfire!

True, hadn’t thought about local laws—thanks! I’m in NJ, so I’ll look into that.

As long as no kids are in the photos, it’s usually fine, especially if it’s about school conditions.

What about making sketches or renderings instead of photos? Might help avoid any issues.

Not a bad idea! I might try that so it’s less of a big deal with the school.

Exactly! Sometimes it’s just enough to get the message across without causing any drama.

If you can access the school, like during pickup, it should be fine as long as it’s empty. Media coverage could help a lot.

I’m usually there at pickup, so I could check out the bathrooms then. Good to know media has worked for some people!

Why not just talk to the school first? They might be open to fixing things if they know parents are unhappy.

Good call, I’ll definitely try that before going to the media. Fingers crossed they’re willing to listen!

For sure! A simple chat sometimes makes all the difference. Good luck!
