Anyone know if death in service benefit can go to a partner?

Wow, all these exclusions make the policy sound almost useless.

Most policies aim to cover accidents or illness, not high-risk stuff.

I got my life insurance ages ago when they covered most stuff. Policies are different these days!

@Lior
Civil commotion? Like a bar fight? :sob:

@Lior
These policies usually have clear T&Cs about what’s excluded.

@Lior
‘Provoking an assault’ sounds like they’re blaming the victim.

I think they mean if you started a fight and got hurt. It’s awkwardly worded but probably legal.

Yeah, insurers have a way with words. Makes you think twice.

@Clove
Leaving keys in an unlocked car isn’t the same thing, but yeah… insurance loves the fine print.

@Lior
What a mess of a policy!!

@Lior
This policy sounds like it’s just looking for reasons not to pay.

@Lior
Mine doesn’t cover anything related to airplanes either!

@Lior
How did you get all this info so fast?

I have digital copies of my policy and type pretty fast.

Copy-paste, my friend. Also helps if you just checked the policy recently.

Also, sometimes readers just find the timing funny like ‘Hey, just read that too!’

@Oak
Exactly. I recently went over this for inheritance tax reasons.

So sorry for your loss. Can I ask why the life insurance didn’t pay out?

Without knowing OP’s details, sometimes claims are refused, like in cases of suicide.

A lot of policies will cover suicide after the first year or two.

It wasn’t due to suicide, but thanks. I know why people assume that.

I want to know this too, as I also have similar cover!

Our friend, who’s a financial advisor, helped him fill out the form and missed some medical details. He’s denying it now, though.

@Ira
If you could prove that, maybe there’d be a case against him. A solicitor might help.
