Apple rolling out new beta firmware for AirPods Pro 2

Apple has introduced a new beta firmware update for the AirPods Pro 2, labeled build 7B5013c. The update is exclusively for AirPods Pro 2, with recent improvements including new hearing aid features, head gestures for call management, Voice Isolation, and customizable Adaptive Audio. However, details about the exact changes in the latest update remain undisclosed by Apple.

Firmware updates for AirPods are not manually initiated; they are automatically downloaded when AirPods are paired with an iPhone connected to the internet. For those wanting to install the beta firmware, it requires using Xcode 16 to access the Developer menu on iOS 18. Users report mixed experiences with the new firmware, with some noting enhanced sound quality while others mention issues like poorer noise cancellation and reduced battery life.

Arbitrary rating but I’ll take it.

Fuck it. I apologize for asking this here, but I’ve been rocking the Gen 1 since they came out. Other than hearing the volume decreasing (which could be a placebo effect), should I bite the bullet on the Gen 2’s or wait for the 3’s? I am that guy that gets his truck washed, trying to gauge the weather, just for it to rain the next day. (Again, my apologies for throwing your post off the rail).

No idea how long it’ll be till the 3s come out, but I’m happy that I upgraded from the 1s to the 2s (I did when they switched to the USB-C case). There was a noticeable improvement to sound and noise cancellation in my opinion!

I agree APP2 was a big upgrade over APP1. Honestly, I don’t expect the 3s to be quite as big of a leap from the 2s, so if you’re itching to upgrade, now is a great time.

Christ I feel like that’s 3 firmware updates in the last 3 weeks.

How does one get these firmware updates?

Automatic deployment when your phone’s connected to the internet and you connect your AirPods to your phone.
