Drones are being used in modern conflicts in ways that seem like science fiction. What do you think this means for the future of war?
Looks like Red Cat is taking the lead in this industry.

With the political changes expected next year, I’ve heard Red Cat might focus on mergers and acquisitions. That’s probably why they’re standing out. There’s a lot happening in the drone business, and if the Ukraine war wraps up, it could shake things up even more.
We’re already living in a time of unmanned killing machines. Next, it’ll be robots on the ground.

Not just on the ground… think underground and underwater too.

It cuts out the need for expensive human involvement.

I can’t even imagine the tech needed for an underground bot that digs tunnels and carries bombs. Maybe it would need to be cabled for power while it digs, and then regular bots follow through. Of course, the digger bot could also double as a weapon. This is seriously mind-blowing… and a bit terrifying.

What if wars were just robots fighting robots, not humans?

The problem is, it would still be about killing the humans behind the bots. Eventually, it stops being about the original cause and just becomes about human casualties.
That escalated quickly.
We’re still stuck with wars being about violence and destruction. Doesn’t feel very futuristic to me.

There’s this old Star Trek episode where planets stopped fighting wars physically. Instead, they ran simulations, and anyone marked as ‘killed’ had to be euthanized. Chilling idea.

Maybe people will finally realise wars are pointless.
@Asher
Humans have been fighting since forever. I admire your optimism, though.

We’ve also cooperated and evolved. Your argument seems more like personal belief than fact.

The ones who think wars are dumb will just get overtaken by those who don’t.

Let me know when you actually study something before saying that.

War has always been a part of human life.

Is that what they teach you in boot camp?
