Can a magnet damage a magnetic keyboard?

I got a magnetic keyboard and was using an old wristrest with a magnet inside it. I didn’t think much of it until my keyboard started acting super weird, like typing random keys. At first, I thought it was my wireless connection, but then I realized it was only when the wristrest was touching the keyboard. Now that I’ve removed it, the keyboard works fine, but I’m worried I might have damaged it somehow since I’ve only had it for a week. So, can a magnet damage a magnetic keyboard? Thanks!

I’ve never heard of a magnetic keyboard, but it sounds like the magnets were messing with each other. That could explain the random typing.

Hall effect keyboards use magnets, so there’s no mechanical switch in them. Just be careful with magnets around it!

Nah, it probably just messed with the timing. It won’t cause permanent damage. Just give it some time to settle.

Thanks for the reassurance! I was starting to freak out a bit.

Honestly, the magnets in your keyboard are probably weaker than regular ones, so you should be fine. Just test it out!

I’ll definitely do that! Fingers crossed it’s all good.

Only way to know for sure is to give it a test run! See how it behaves now.
