Can a mini PC handle GSPro well enough?

I’m currently using Awesome Golf by casting from my iPad to a projector, but I’m thinking about moving up to GSPro. Do you think a mini PC with integrated graphics can manage it? I’d rather spend around $500 on a dedicated PC for my sim instead of going all out on a gaming rig. If anyone has suggestions or alternatives, I’d love to hear them. Thanks!

Integrated graphics are probably not enough, even on lower settings. If I were you, I’d aim for at least a GTX 1070 to get decent performance at 1080p.

Have you personally used it with a 1070? I’m looking for something that’s affordable but doesn’t lag or have frame drops. I really appreciate the advice!

Take a look at this: https://youtu.be/gLICX5WDw6c?si=B6LEO9bWajHoiHIq. I made the video for people looking to build a budget PC for GSPro. You can get 60fps on Very High settings at 1080p for less than $200. For 4k 60fps, I could see it costing under $600.

In terms of performance, GSPro is similar to a game like Red Dead Redemption 2. If you know how well your PC runs that game, it’ll give you an idea of how GSPro will perform. There are tons of budget builds for RD2 that you can check out for ideas.

Thanks for the video! That’s really helpful.

Nice video! I’ve been thinking about grabbing an old Dell Optiplex and adding a GPU to make a budget PC myself.

@Florian
I’m running GSPro on a PC with a GTX 1070 and haven’t had any performance problems.

Oh, and just to mention, I’m located in Canada if that affects product availability.

Here are the system requirements from their website. If your PC meets these, then you’re good to go. It’s unlikely you’ll find a new computer capable of running GSPro for under $500 CAD. For reference, I’ve been researching computers for GSPro as well, and I live in Canada too.

@Axel
Great, thanks! I’ve seen a couple of YouTube videos of people using mini PCs, but I think I can manage a GTX 1070 build for a decent price.

A mini PC with integrated graphics won’t be enough for GSPro. You’ll need to spend a bit more to get good performance.

I’m using a UM790 Pro mini PC with 64GB of RAM and it’s working quite well for me. The 64GB version is around $650 on the Minisforum website. Here’s a couple of videos showing it in action:

This was actually shared with me by Golfing_day_trader when I had a similar question about mini PCs.

That’s funny, I actually saw this video and it gave me hope that a mini PC could handle GSPro.

@Florian
Yeah, it works pretty well, but at $650, you might be better off looking for a used desktop that offers better performance at the same price.

Exactly my thoughts. I’ve seen some solid setups for that price that are way better than a mini PC. I’m currently scouring Facebook Marketplace for some good deals, haha.

Do you already have a gaming PC or are you looking to build one from scratch?

Nah, just have an iMac for now, lol.
