Dealing with a meniscal tear: What's the best knee brace to use?

Hey, everyone,

I have only been doing BJJ for a few months. I had been worried about a meniscus tear in my knee. The injury is nearly a decade old, yet I still get the urge to lock my kneecap now and again, but only when I have my knee fully bent as far as I can or with weight on it like a turtle. Does anyone have any recommendations for a knee brace that would help me? My doctor says it is not serious enough for surgery, but I do not want to get that bad. All the braces he advised appear to be rather hefty.

Thank you.

Although your knee problems may seem scary, there are techniques to keep it safe when practicing BJJ. A physical therapist can assess your knee and recommend a less complicated brace, such as a wrap or sleeve, for light support, rather than utilising pricey braces that are recommended by doctors. Additionally, they can lead you through strengthening exercises that will help your knee feel more solid and lessen the temptation to lock your kneecap. To find out how to best protect your knee and keep doing BJJ, speak with your therapist and doctor.

The Best Meniscus Tear Knee Brace:
1 DOUFURT Stabilizing Knee Brace
Two Shock Physician Hinged Knee Brace
3 ATHLEDICT Knee Support Brace with Hinges
Four-piece plus-size knee brace
5 Compression Sleeve NEENCA

To get better, see a knee expert or a physiotherapist. Dr. Smith is not always the right person to ask.
