The school recently built a roundabout and now says everyone has to use it for drop-off. I’ve always used the cafeteria entrance since it’s on my way to drop off my other kid at another school. There are no signs restricting it to buses, and I usually leave before buses show up. Is it legal for them to enforce this just because they sent out an email?
Unless there are signs or something official, I don’t think they can force it. Did they put anything up?

Nope, nothing posted. It’s only mentioned in an email the principal sent.

Emails don’t seem enforceable. They’d need to physically mark it for it to count as a rule.
Did they explain why the roundabout is mandatory? Like, is it for safety or traffic flow?

They said it’s to keep the area by the cafeteria open for buses, but buses aren’t even there when I drop off.

That seems like overkill if buses aren’t even around yet. They might be flexible if you bring it up.
I’d print the email or save it just in case they try to argue about it later.

Good call! I already saved it just to be safe.
Have they mentioned any consequences for not following the roundabout rule?

No, nothing like fines or penalties—just the email suggesting it.

Then it’s probably more of a suggestion than a strict rule, especially if there’s no enforcement.
Have you thought about emailing the school or talking to the principal? They might not realize it’s messing up your schedule.

I haven’t yet. Wanted to be sure about the legal side of things before I reach out.

Makes sense. Once you explain your route, they might let you keep using the cafeteria entrance.
