Encountering half-eaten mice in the forest

I’ve been staying near a forest and taking weekly walks. Recently, I found the bottom half of a tiny mouse, with guts and bones visible. I took a photo but didn’t think much of it until I saw similar remains on different paths over the next few days. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Could it be cats or mink?

Possible, but why would they leave them partially eaten?

It’s common for cats to leave parts of their prey. I’ve also seen mink kill chickens and leave most of the body.

Maybe a cat did it.

It could be an owl or another predator that only eats certain parts of its prey.

Perhaps a shrew is responsible.
