I saw a video of a guy in Australia whose drone was attacked by birds. He tried different things, but what worked was putting red reflective tape on the drone’s arms and sides. The birds didn’t attack anymore once the sun reflected off the tape.
It depends on the bird. If it’s a bird of prey, like a hawk, it might keep swooping at your drone because there’s a nest nearby. But ospreys will attack just because they can.
Fight back! I once had a hawk attack me. I got hit but recovered, and the bird didn’t want any more after that. I chased it a bit to make sure it wouldn’t come after my drone again.
If you add a strobe light to your drone, the birds will still fly close, but once they see the light, they’ll realize it’s not a threat. I tested this a few weeks ago and it works perfectly.

Yeah, I plan on doing that too. The strobe won’t hurt anything, and I already own one for flying at dusk, so I might as well use it when there’s bird activity.
@Orin
I always use it when I fly now. No harm, and it keeps the birds away (get it, ‘fowl’?).
What kind of bird was it? I’ve never had this problem.
Pull up and pull out.
Put a flamethrower on your drone.
How about adding razor blades to your propellers?
