Found a drone on my roof… never owned one before… is this even useful?

I found a drone on my roof. I’ve never owned one before. Does anyone know if this is worth anything or if it can be used?

It’s just e-waste.

That’s disappointing.

Without the controller, it’s basically useless.

Even with the controller, it’s just going to fly away again and land on someone else’s roof.

@Blaze
Yeah, that seems pretty likely.

Honestly, you might get more distance throwing it by hand.

Why not post about it on your local Facebook page? A kid might’ve lost it.

It probably didn’t travel far. Maybe try posting fliers around the area too. But honestly, it’s just a cheap $40 drone.

@Remy
Maybe it’s cheap to you, but to a kid, it could be a treasured birthday or graduation gift. One person’s trash is another person’s treasure.

True. $40 could be a lot for a kid, especially if they saved up for it themselves.

@Morgan
Exactly. Or maybe it was a single mum trying to give her kid something special for their birthday. Things like this can mean a lot.

Fair point. If someone’s looking for it, you’ll probably see fliers around or posts online in local groups.

That’s why the flier idea is good. Adults might think $40 isn’t much, but at least you’re trying to do the right thing.

Exactly. Most people complain about drones, but it’s nice to see someone actually trying to return one. Posting online should help, especially since kids are all over social media.

People need to stop calling drones with cameras toys. They aren’t toys, especially if they’re good quality.

@Taylor
So my $20 camera drones aren’t toys? What are they then? The one OP found is just a $40 drone. It’s a toy, end of story.

I just think they’re more than toys. You can use them for practical stuff too, like inspecting places. I plan to use mine to check out the roof of an old barn after some storms.

@Taylor
Sure, but using a toy to do a job doesn’t stop it from being a toy. A $5 Dora camera doesn’t suddenly become pro gear because you use it for work.

Exactly. It’s still a toy, even if it’s doing ‘serious’ work. The toy shop argument stands.
