Fresh Windows 11 Install on HP-All-In-One Shows No Hard Drives

Last year my old company got bought out and I snatched up an HP All-in-One 27-cb1180 with Windows 11 already on it. But now I can’t log in since the company’s domain is gone. I’ve got a Windows 11 product key from my new gig, but when I made installation media on a USB, it only shows the USB partitions when I try to install. I followed HP’s instructions about needing the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver, but the article is outdated. So, I went to Intel’s site, downloaded the driver, and extracted it to the USB. Still, I can’t see the main disk to install Windows on, even in diskpart. I also tried disabling Secure Boot in BIOS, but no luck. Anyone know what I’m missing? Please help!

Hey, just a heads up—messing with BIOS settings can risk your data. Always make sure to back up before changing anything.

IDK, but you might want to try GParted or something. That could help with the partitions.

What’s GParted? I haven’t heard of it before…

It’s a partition manager, pretty handy for stuff like this. You can boot from a USB and manage your disks.

Have you checked if it’s booting in UEFI or Legacy mode? That could be the issue. Try toggling it in BIOS.

Not sure how to check that. I didn’t see any options but I’ll look again in the morning.

Sometimes it’s labeled as ‘fast boot’. If it’s on, it’s UEFI. Off means Legacy.

You should grab the driver from HP’s support page. There’s a section for Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver. That might help.

Thanks, I’ll check that out! I really hope it works.

Try installing on the unallocated space. It’s basically RAW, so if you select that, the install process should create the necessary partitions.

That sounds promising! I’ll give it a shot and see what happens.
