Got a dismissal letter from school... what should I do?

I received a letter from my school saying I’m being dismissed. They’re also questioning my earned credits, claiming I let someone else submit my work. It’s an online school, and they say they have proof based on IP addresses showing I was in different locations. I’ve tried explaining that I travel a lot, but they’re not convinced. I want to address this properly. Anyone have tips on how to handle something like this?

Oof, that sounds tricky. Did they give you a chance to explain your side?

Yeah, I sent them a letter explaining my travel and that I always do my work independently. Not sure if they’ll listen.

Good move sending the letter. Maybe ask for a formal meeting to explain everything in person or over a call?

Have you checked the school’s policies on dismissals? They should have procedures you can follow to challenge this.

Not yet, but that’s a good idea. I think they have some sort of committee that handles these issues.

Yeah, most schools require a hearing for serious stuff like this. Definitely look into it and get ready to present your case.

How do they know someone else did your work? Like, what’s their actual proof?

They’re saying the IP addresses don’t match, so they think I couldn’t have been in all those locations.

If it’s just about IP addresses, you could argue that traveling causes that. Do you have any travel records to back it up?

Did they mention what happens to your credits if you’re dismissed? That’s a big deal too.

They said they’re reviewing my credits, but it’s unclear if they’ll revoke them. I worked hard for those credits.

If you can prove you earned those credits legitimately, they shouldn’t take them away. Maybe focus on that in your appeal.

Have you thought about getting a lawyer involved? Academic dismissals can have long-term consequences.

I haven’t yet, but that might be my next step if things don’t get resolved. It’s starting to feel serious.

Yeah, a lawyer can help you figure out if the school is following their own policies or just being unfair.
