So, my son and I filed a complaint against the high school baseball coach. We had some witnesses and evidence to back up the claim, but the school still dismissed it as unfounded. Honestly, I wasn’t shocked because I feel like they’ve known about the coach’s behavior for a while. But then, after everything, the coach had his lawyer (a retired one) send me a cease and desist letter to my home. It’s pretty wild. Anyone been through something similar?
That’s insane! A coach sending a cease and desist? What was in the letter exactly?

It basically told me to stop talking about the coach’s actions. I’m pretty sure it’s retaliation for the complaint, but it’s all based on lies.
Wow, that’s a bit much. It sounds like the coach is trying to scare you into silence. Have you talked to any legal experts about this yet?

Not yet, but I’m seriously considering it. The coach seems out of control, and I don’t trust the school to handle it properly.

It’s probably a good idea to get legal advice, especially if it feels like retaliation. You don’t want this to escalate.
I can’t believe this. Sounds like the coach is trying to intimidate you. I’d reach out to the school board about this letter and his behavior.

Yeah, I think that’s the next step. The school hasn’t done anything so far, so maybe this will get them to take it seriously.
Sending a cease and desist letter over a complaint? That’s really crossing the line. You should definitely let the school know about it and see what they do.

For sure. It feels totally inappropriate for a coach to act this way, especially after we followed the process. I’m not sure the school even knows about the letter yet.

Yeah, you might want to notify them right away. They need to know what’s happening behind the scenes.
That’s totally out of line. If you’ve been documenting everything, it might be helpful to bring all of that to the school board. Make sure they understand what’s going on.

I’ve got everything documented, so I’m ready to present it to them. I just don’t know if they’ll do anything about it.

It’s good you have proof. If they ignore it, you might want to consider getting a lawyer to help with next steps.
