Help/Suggestions for old MacBook Pro (2012) with Catalina

Hey everyone, I have an old MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid-2012) running macOS Catalina (version 10.15). I want to customize it with widgets and also need some app recommendations for academic purposes. Any suggestions on what’s still compatible with this version? Thanks in advance for the help!

For widgets, you could try using ‘Übersicht.’ It’s pretty customizable and works on older versions of macOS. Not sure if it’s still updated, but worth checking out!

Thanks! I’ll give it a try. Hope it’s compatible with Catalina.

For academic stuff, you can’t go wrong with Evernote or Notion for note-taking. Both should work fine on your Mac, and they’re really helpful for organizing your work.

I’ve heard of Notion but never tried it. I’ll look into it, thanks!

If you’re looking for a good PDF reader or editor, ‘PDF Expert’ is pretty solid and should be compatible with your version of macOS.

Perfect, I’ve been needing a better PDF tool!

You can also try ‘Alfred’ for productivity. It’s like Spotlight on steroids, and it’s super useful for quick searches and shortcuts.

I’ve used Alfred before, forgot all about it. Thanks for the reminder!

Might also want to check out iStat Menus to monitor system performance. It works on older Macs and helps keep track of how your Mac is running.

Good call! I need something like that to check my system usage.
