How bad is it to drive without a grill?

I hit a deer, and the front grill on my 2024 Honda Civic Sport is gone. I’m heading to an auto body shop after work, but I’m wondering if driving without it for now is a big deal? Anyone know what this might cost to fix?

If you’re just driving short distances, you should be fine until you get it fixed. The main concern is stuff like rocks or debris hitting your radiator. Drive carefully and avoid tailgating to reduce the risk.

@Harley
Makes sense. I’ll keep my distance until I can get it looked at. Thanks for the tip!

If the grill’s gone, your radiator might be exposed. Fixing it sooner is better than waiting until something damages the radiator. Costs vary depending on the shop, but it shouldn’t be crazy expensive.

@Winter
Yeah, that’s what I was worried about. I’ll have the shop check it today. Any idea how much a grill costs if I want to DIY it?

@Winter
Depends on where you buy it, but you can usually find replacements online for under $100. Installing it is pretty straightforward too.

Driving without the grill isn’t super risky short-term, but like others said, it’s all about odds. The more you drive like that, the more chances something might hit your radiator. If you’re just going to the shop later, you should be okay.

@Davi
Got it. I’m just worried about random stuff flying into the radiator. I’ll take it easy on the drive.

If you’re looking for a cheap temporary fix, you can grab some chicken wire from a hardware store and secure it over the gap. It’s not pretty, but it’ll protect the radiator until you get a proper grill.

@victorblake
Lol, that’s creative! Might just do that if the shop can’t get me in today.

Cheaper to fix it now than wait and end up replacing both the grill and the radiator. Catching issues early saves money in the long run.

Honestly, some people drive without a grill for years. You can order one online for cheap and replace it yourself. Most grills just snap in with clips. Check out a tutorial on YouTube—it’s easier than it looks.

@Shiloh
Good to know! I’ll look into ordering one if the shop quote is too high. Thanks!

Weight reduction, bro. More speed! Just kidding, get it fixed soon to avoid bigger problems.

Lol, love it. But yeah, I’ll get it sorted ASAP. Thanks!
