How do you know if a battery is about to leak into your remote?

It’s almost impossible to predict when it will leak. The leak will corrode and ruin the remote, and some remotes are irreplaceable, no longer made. It’s frequently used too. No symptoms, barely any smell, it leaks when it leaks. How to prevent this?

Don’t use batteries past their best before date, don’t keep batteries in remotes you don’t use regularly, and replace batteries when dead. Another option is to use rechargeable lithium batteries, they are very, very unlikely to leak.

Good point. I guess I’ll have to switch to lithium or rechargeables. I just hate it when this happens!

I’ve had the same issue! Doesn’t matter if they’re new or old, they just leak. I’ve started using rechargeable or lithium disposables. They’re more expensive, but they don’t leak like normal AA or AAA batteries.

Yeah, the cost is a bit steep. But it sounds like it might save me money in the long run, considering how often I’ve had to replace remotes.

Get some help. Not a joke, this sounds like actual paranoia.

Haha, maybe you’re right! But it’s so frustrating to deal with!

Just start buying rechargeable batteries. Don’t get EBL though. Go for Eneloops or Amazon Basics. They don’t leak, and over time you’ll save money.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll definitely look into those brands.

Buy decent batteries; the really bad ones are more likely to leak. Even good ones can eventually leak, so it’s a good idea to replace them regularly. You could also try removing the batteries from devices you don’t use often.

Yeah, I guess regular replacement might be the safest bet. I’ll give that a try too.
