So after a forced Windows 10 update, my PC is now stuck in an endless boot loop or just freezes at the loading wheel. Sometimes I get the BSOD with a PNP Watchdog error. It’s getting real frustrating. I’ve tried a ton of stuff like updating the BIOS, swapping GPUs, and even testing each storage device, but nothing’s working. Any thoughts on what might be causing this?
MOD: You may need to check your dump files for more information on the BSOD. If you can boot into Windows, check C:\Windows\Minidump for any dump files and upload them to a file-sharing site like mediafire.com or catbox.moe. Having multiple dump files helps us analyze the issue better. Let us know if you need help with that!
The PNP Watchdog BSOD usually points to a driver or hardware issue. Since it started after the update, I’d check a couple of things: make sure UEFI boot is enabled, and Secure Boot is on. It might also be worth checking your storage controller settings—sometimes AMD X570 boards can have issues with NVMe drives. You can try running ‘sfc /scannow’ too to check for system file corruption.
I tried the old BIOS and then updated it to the new one. I have a 1600W PSU I can try, so I’ll test that. I wasn’t really thinking the storage might be the issue since I tested each drive individually and still got the same result, but I’ll double-check everything.
Good idea testing the 1600W PSU. It could help rule out power delivery issues. I’d also double-check the boot settings like I mentioned earlier, just to make sure nothing’s misconfigured.
Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll try everything tonight after work. Hopefully, it’ll help fix the issue. I’ll keep you all updated.
No problem! Let us know how it goes. If the PSU swap doesn’t help, we might need to look deeper into the driver or storage settings.
Will do, likely Monday night when I’m off work.
