Hey everyone, I’m a 21-year-old woman. I’m thinking about having a Seagrams (3.2% alcohol) but I’m on Zoloft. I really just want to try it out, not trying to go overboard or anything. Is this okay?
Yeah, you should be fine. I asked my doctor about this last time, and they said occasional drinks are okay. Just know it might affect you a bit more than it would without the meds, but Seagrams is pretty low alcohol so it shouldn’t be too strong.
@Bela
I actually never drank before starting Zoloft, so I’m not even sure what to expect.

For me, it didn’t change how drunk I got, but the hangovers were a lot worse. I ended up stopping for a while because of that.
You might notice some side effects. Just take it slow, drink water too, so you don’t wake up feeling terrible. For me, I get sleepy really fast and feel hungover even from a little bit, but it might be different for you.
So it’s not dangerous, right?

Not dangerous. I drank a lot on Zoloft back in my early 20s and I’m still kicking. Just be aware that if you drink close to when you took your Zoloft, it might feel a lot stronger. I also tend to feel a bit more anxious or down for a day or two after, so keep that in mind.
I had a couple of beers tonight on Zoloft, with a higher alcohol level than Seagrams. You should be fine, just don’t overdo it.
It’ll be okay. Just stay within your limits.
