Is this a factory special edition or just something the dealer did? Anyone know?

Yeah, unless there was a copyright issue, the main reason was Lexus. Toyota’s luxury cars weren’t taken seriously in the US, so they created Lexus to compete with Mercedes and Cadillac. I’m not sure if later cars were designed as Toyotas or Lexuses first, but all high-end Toyotas in the US were branded as Lexus. Eventually, Lexus became global, so now we don’t see Toyota versions of those models. They still share platforms, though, like how the Crown is the base for the IS/GS/RC/LC/LS. The LFA is probably the only true Lexus-only car.

My favorite is the Crown Majesta with the 4.6L V8. It’s basically a GS460 but as a Toyota. It’s sad everything’s going FWD and 4-cylinder now.

Yeah, better grab these cars while they last. But that new 4-cylinder turbo Toyota and Lexus are working on seems promising. I’m all for putting race engines in street cars, like with the GR Yaris and GR Corolla.

Nope, they’re just utility trucks used at local race events, then they get sent to dealers through some kind of lottery. The stickers usually come off before they’re sold. There’s nothing really special about them. It would be cool if they made a special livery for pace trucks, though.

That truck was probably used at a NASCAR event. Watkins Glen just happened recently, so they probably sent the trucks used there to dealers for marketing.

Looks like one of those trucks they roll out for trade shows or local events like fairs and races. Usually owned by corporate, but sometimes local dealers provide them.

I’ve seen a few of these on the road, and they’re for sale. There’s even a blue Tacoma with the same decals.

Toyota sponsors NASCAR, and these trucks are used at the start of races. Dealership employees get to drive them around the track for the ‘pre-lap,’ and after the race, they’re sent to the dealers with the decals still on. Same thing happens with other models they display at races. My dealership gets a lot of these trucks from our local track.

This isn’t a factory sticker pack. The dealer added it.

The SX is a new trim level. It’s either cheaper or just a little more expensive than the TSS package. It’s mostly cosmetic changes. The stickers are meant to grab attention, just like they’ve done here.

My dealership had a few of these a few months ago. It’s a special edition Tundra, made to be the pace truck for a NASCAR race.

Looks like a dealer special to me.

A sticker’s just a sticker unless you can prove the truck was actually used as a pace truck. Like others have said, it was probably for a local event, and the dealer just wanted to put its name out there by providing a truck. Then they sold it with the stickers to avoid damaging the paint when they’re removed.

There’s nothing special about this truck. In fact, those stickers will probably lower its value since it’ll cost extra to remove them.

Neither. They’re just decals that Toyota puts on trucks used at racetracks across the country.
