I've Moved On From Kirkland Wedges!

Curious why you chose different grinds for your wedges?

I just watched a video explaining how different grinds fit different playing styles and conditions, and how each wedge performs in various situations.

@Phoenix
I use different grinds based on the course conditions and the shots I need to play, especially in Texas with its varied grass types.

@Phoenix
Could you share that video? I’m trying to understand which grinds would be best for me.

Different situations require different grinds, right?

I’m just not quite up to the level where it really makes a difference. I had to let go of my Kirky’s because they were irreplaceable. But after reading up on the grinds for the SM9, I realized they align almost perfectly with what I need at different degrees.

Different grinds are good for different shots. For example, F grinds are great for full shots and square face pitches, while M grinds offer flexibility for opening and closing the face.

Vokey’s wedge selector tool can really help you choose the right grinds for your game.

I’m not convinced that’s universally the best approach, especially for players who haven’t been professionally fitted. Bounce should match your attack angle and the typical course conditions you play.

@Lior
I use the same setup as the original poster, and it works well for me. Here’s a breakdown of why each grind and bounce might be used based on the conditions and the shots.

SM9 wedges are amazing, glad you joined the club!

I’ve customized my Vokey 56 degree but kept my 60 degree Kirkland. Just can’t let it go.
