Microsoft moving Game Pass into one Xbox mobile app

So does this mean they’re taking game streaming out of the Xbox app after they combine them?

I don’t think that’s what it means. The part about Android not having cloud streaming seems like a mistake since it already does.

“Microsoft and Apple are still arguing about cloud gaming apps, so there’s no game streaming on iOS or Android in the Xbox mobile apps”

That part doesn’t make sense, because I can stream games on my Android right now. Seems like they messed up. The issue is between Apple and Microsoft, not Android.

@Cedar
You can stream through the Game Pass app. The regular Xbox app doesn’t offer cloud streaming, and it doesn’t even show that cloud-enabled games can be played.

But the Game Pass app is being removed.

@Freeman
Exactly, so the question is, will we be able to stream games through the Xbox app once it’s combined with Game Pass? It looks like the answer is no.

I can stream my console games with the regular Xbox app right now.

@Nyle
We’re talking about cloud streaming, not console streaming.

Got it.

@Cedar
Xbox posted about it here: Xbox September Update – Game Bar Compact Mode Now Available, Updates for Xbox App on Mobile Coming Soon, and More - Xbox Wire

Looks like they really are getting rid of it.

Why would they remove it on Android too? We’re losing features because of Apple’s mess. This really kills Game Pass for me… :sweat:

@Noah
They want you to use Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) on  Xbox.com instead.

Did you actually read it? It clearly says you’ll be able to stream on the Xbox app for iOS and Android.

@Mal
No, it tells you to use Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) on  Xbox.com for streaming, not the app.

@Cedar
The Xbox app on Android doesn’t have cloud streaming. That’s only on the Game Pass app.

there’s still no ability to stream games on iOS or Android inside of the Xbox mobile apps.

But I can already stream my console games on the Xbox app, and cloud games through the Game Pass app. I thought merging them into one app would do both. That’s wild.

That’s how it works right now. Combining them would likely change that.
