So, my friend’s PC got completely wrecked by some Roblox script he downloaded (I know…). All his accounts got compromised - Steam, LOL, Outlook - the whole lot. I told him to change all his passwords using his phone and to reinstall Windows once he finds a USB. Just wondering if there’s anything else he can do to secure things? (Sorry if my English is off!)
Definitely have him set up two-factor authentication (2FA) on all accounts that support it! If he uses different passwords for each account, he won’t lose everything if this happens again.
Good idea on the 2FA - didn’t even think of that! I’ll tell him to add it to everything he can. Thanks!
Yeah, and remind him to check for any unusual activity or apps linked to his accounts. Some malware can add stuff you won’t notice.
Tell him not to save his passwords in his browser either! Super risky with malware around.
Yeah, password manager all the way. Safer than having it in the browser!
Exactly! A password manager is way better. Keeps everything encrypted.
What’s a password manager, btw?
It’s an app that stores all your passwords in one secure place. You only need to remember one master password. It’ll create super strong passwords for all your accounts!
I use Bitwarden, it’s pretty solid and free for most features. Worth looking into if he’s going full security mode.
If he can, have him use ‘Hitman Pro’ or ‘Bitdefender Trafficlight’ to scan for any hidden stuff. Those can catch extra malware hiding in the system.
What’s Hitman Pro do exactly?
It’s a malware removal tool. It scans for hidden viruses and spyware that normal antivirus might miss. Good for cleaning up after infections!
Lol, maybe your friend needs to rethink downloading random scripts. Could save him some trouble in the future
Right?! Friends like that make you feel like a tech genius
