PC Not Running Games Like I Think It Should

I’m a bit of a nerd but not great with hardware. I know how to install PCs and set up software, but my PC seems to be underperforming. I’m playing games like Arma 3, Arma Reforger, and COD, but I’m getting seriously low frames (30-50) in Arma Reforger while others with worse PCs have higher frames.

My drivers, including GPU, BIOS, and CPU, are all up to date. Here are my PC specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core (Base speed: 4.20 GHz)
  • RAM: 4x 16GB CORSAIR Vengeance RGB DDR5 (6000MT/s)
  • Storage: SABRENT 2TB Rocket 4 PLUS NVMe 4.0
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER
  • DirectX: 12 (FL 12.1)

If anyone has suggestions on checks or things I haven’t tried, I’d appreciate it. Am I overreacting, or is my PC really not performing as it should? (Also aware that Arma games are very CPU intensive.) Thanks!

Are all the games online?

Yes.

Then I bet the problem isn’t the PC but your internet. Try lowering graphics settings.

I’ve got 1000 Mbps internet; that’s not the issue.

I usually stay away from DirectX 12. Try running them at 11 and see if you notice a change.

Do I just change that in the NVIDIA area?

Usually it’s within the game you’re playing or you’re prompted to select the version at launch.

Run some benchmarks. Cinebench for CPU, 3DMark/Heavenbenchmark for GPU. Check temps while doing that.

Will try. I used Fur for benchmarking; would you recommend the other ones for GPU?

Is your monitor plugged into the GPU? Are you using DP or HDMI? Check your monitor settings too.

Yes, DP, and yes 200Hz. Will do. No, but I’ll try uninstalling and reinstalling the GPU drivers.

Check if your NVIDIA drivers are optimized for the games you play. Sometimes a stable previous driver works better.
