PC not turning on... what gives?

Hello, A few weeks ago, my desktop PC started having an issue where it would turn off after just a few minutes of being on, no shutdown screen or anything, it just powered down. So I took it to a repair shop, and the employee there told me the PC had been running for over 2 days without any problems. But when I tried to turn it on at home, it just wouldn’t power on at all. I’ve tried different outlets and cables, but no luck. The weird thing is I didn’t get charged with anything, so I’m not sure they actually fixed it.

Hmm, that’s really strange. Since it was working at the repair shop but not at home, it’s hard to pinpoint the exact issue. What are the full specs of your desktop PC? That could help us figure out where to start troubleshooting.

Ah good call, I should have provided more details. Let me dig up the full specs and I’ll share them. Hopefully that can help us get to the bottom of this.

Maybe the repair shop just did some basic stuff like testing different outlets or cables, but didn’t actually fix the underlying problem. I’d start by checking the power supply - try a different one if you can, or take it in to get tested.

Good suggestion, I’ll take a look at the power supply. Didn’t think to try swapping that out. Appreciate the tip!

IDK man, this sounds super frustrating. Have you checked all the internal connections? Maybe something came loose during the trip to the shop. Might be worth doing a full hardware inspection.

Ah yeah, good point. I’ll have to pop the case open and double-check all the connections inside. Could be something came loose. Appreciate the suggestion!

Lol, maybe the repair shop guys just wanted to mess with you. Kidding, but it is super weird that it was working there but not at home. Definitely gotta dig deeper on this one.

Haha, you might be onto something there. Nah, I’m sure they weren’t trying to mess with me, but it is really bizarre how it behaved differently. I’m determined to get to the bottom of this!

Sorry to hear about your PC issues, that sounds super frustrating. Hopefully you can get it sorted out, even if the repair shop wasn’t much help. Keep us posted on what you find!

Thanks, I appreciate the encouragement! I’m definitely determined to get this figured out. I’ll be sure to update this thread once I make some progress.
