PSU fan making a high-pitched noise... can I fix it?

I have a 2-year-old MSI MGP A750GF power supply, and the fan has been making a high-pitched squealing noise whenever it’s running. I’ve confirmed it’s not coil whine since the sound only happens with the fan. Is this something I can fix myself, like maybe oiling the bearing? Or is it too risky since the fan is integrated into the PSU? Also, I bought it from Amazon, and it was advertised with a 10-year warranty—would this be covered?

Generally, if a PSU fan is making noise, it’s a sign of wear. Oiling the bearing might help, but it can be risky since opening the PSU could void the warranty.

I’ve had a similar issue before. If it’s still under warranty, I’d recommend contacting MSI or Amazon for a replacement instead of trying to fix it yourself.

You might also want to check the warranty details. Sometimes, they require you to send it back for inspection. It’s worth checking before taking any action.

If you do decide to open it, make sure it’s unplugged and fully discharged. Just be careful with any components inside—it can be risky.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely be careful if I go that route.
