Hi, I swapped my motherboard from a Gigabyte B450M DS3H to an ASRock B450 Pro4 R.2. After the change, half of my RAM (16GB) is reserved for hardware. It worked perfectly fine before. I have a 16GB Kingston Fury (2666/DDR4) and 2 sticks of HyperX 8GB (2666/DDR4). I thought it wouldn’t be an issue since they have the same speeds and both are Kingston brand. But now, BIOS shows 4x8GB, and RAMMAP shows 16GB. Is there any quick fix? TY!
That sounds frustrating! Have you checked your BIOS settings? Sometimes there are options to adjust memory allocation.
I haven’t looked closely yet. What should I be looking for?
Look for memory remapping options. It might help with the hardware reservation issue.
Did you ensure that all your RAM sticks are seated properly in their slots? Sometimes that can cause issues.
Yeah, I checked that. They’re all snug in place.
I had a similar issue and it turned out to be a BIOS update that fixed it. Have you tried that?
Not yet! I’ll look into updating the BIOS.
Sometimes mixing RAM brands can cause issues even if they’re the same speed. Have you tried using just one brand at a time?
I haven’t tried that yet. I’ll give it a shot and see if it makes a difference.
Check your chipset drivers again. Sometimes they don’t install correctly after a motherboard change.
I thought I updated them, but I’ll double-check just in case. Thanks!
