RAM not being detected...any ideas?

I recently bought a pre-built PC with two TFORCE DELTA 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4-3200MHz RGB sticks, and everything worked fine with those. I decided to upgrade to 32GB by adding two more sticks of the same model. They light up, but my system is still only detecting 16GB. I’ve checked in BIOS, Windows settings, and swapped the new sticks around without touching the originals (which have never caused issues). Any ideas why it’s not detecting the extra RAM?

Have you tried reseating the new RAM? Even if the RGB lights up, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re seated correctly for data transfer.

Yeah, I reseated them a couple of times. The RGB works fine, but the system just won’t detect the extra RAM.

Could be a BIOS issue. Have you updated your BIOS recently? Sometimes newer memory configurations aren’t detected until you update.

I haven’t done a BIOS update yet. I’ll check if there’s a new version available and try that!

It might be that the new RAM isn’t matching the timings or voltage of the old RAM. Try manually setting the memory speed and timings in the BIOS.

I’ll give that a shot! Not sure if that’s the issue, but worth a try.

Do you have XMP enabled in the BIOS? If not, enable that, and it might help with detecting the additional RAM.

I actually forgot to check the XMP settings. I’ll go in and see if that fixes it!

Another thing to check is if your motherboard can handle all four slots being used at once. Some boards don’t like all four DIMMs being filled, even if they support it on paper.

That’s a good point. I’ll dig through the manual and double-check that.
