Hey everyone, I need some guidance. I requested an IEP meeting for my child over 45 days ago, but the school hasn’t gotten back to me. I sent emails to the principal, assistant principal, and even the district and state directors (we’re in MA). Not sure what my next steps should be if they keep ignoring it. Any tips?
That’s so frustrating! In Massachusetts, they’re supposed to respond in 45 days. Maybe try sending another email or calling to follow up?

Good idea. I think I’ll send a follow-up email and see if that gets things moving.

Yeah, keeping it in writing is smart. Hope they get back to you soon!
If they still ignore you, you can file a formal complaint with the state education office. That usually makes them respond.

I didn’t know about that option, thanks! I’ll look into filing a complaint if they keep stalling.

Yeah, it’s like an official ‘don’t ignore us’ move. Works most of the time.
Consulting a lawyer might be a good idea too. They can help you navigate due process if the school keeps delaying.

Thanks! I’ll consider reaching out if it comes to that. Hopefully, they respond soon.
If it still doesn’t get resolved after a complaint, you can go for mediation. They’re usually more cooperative by then.

Good to know mediation is an option. I’m hoping it won’t get that far though!
Just make sure you document everything. If they see you’re keeping records, they’re more likely to take action.

Thanks, I’ll definitely keep track of all communication. Hopefully, it nudges them to respond.
