School suspended my daughter unfairly – need advice!

Hey all, my daughter got a 5-day suspension, and it feels way harsher than what others have gotten for similar issues. According to the handbook, bullying includes threats or physical actions, but it seems like they aren’t following their own rules. Anyone else dealt with inconsistent punishments?

That sounds really unfair. If the other kid wasn’t punished, that doesn’t seem right. Did they explain why your daughter got a harsher punishment?

I asked, and the principal just said each case is different. But I’ve seen worse fights only get 2 days.

@Paxton
Maybe bring that up with the superintendent. They need to be consistent.

Check the handbook carefully. Sometimes pointing out their own rules can help make your case stronger.

Exactly! If they’re not following their policies, you have a right to question it.

Wow, 120 signatures already? That’s a lot of support. Sounds like others are fed up too.

Yes, if other parents are backing you, the school might take it more seriously.

@Hollis
Exactly! The more parents involved, the better the chance for change.

Ask for proof of this so-called ‘injury’ if that’s on her record. Seems odd if the other student stayed at school.

Good idea, I’ll definitely ask. Didn’t think about asking for actual evidence.

If the superintendent doesn’t take action, you might consider bringing it to the school board. Sounds like they’re not handling things fairly.

Yes, if there’s a pattern of inconsistency, the board should know.
