Hello. I’m part of a band that’s gaining traction in our country. Unfortunately, two former friends, now jealous of our success, are retaliating by deleting our videos. They don’t have our account password, but I suspect they’re reporting our videos, making them disappear without notification. We’ve lost a Facebook page with over 1400 subscribers and have no online presence left. This is the third time we’ve had to rebuild our channel in six months, and it’s affecting our gigs. How can we protect ourselves from this happening again? Please help us.
Change your YouTube password and enable 2FA on your Google account. Use an authenticator app, not SMS/email. Review your account security for any unknown devices. If a video was removed, you should have received a notification. Secure your account first!
It sounds like they might have had editor access to your account. Check your YouTube dashboard to see who has access—it could be the source of the problem.
Have you thought about reaching out to YouTube support? They may have tools to help protect your content. Also, consider setting your videos to private while you sort this out.
Thanks! I’ve made some videos unlisted. Getting in touch with YouTube support is tricky, though. I appreciate the encouragement!
