Heard that Erik ten Hag asked the Man Utd board for some pretty big signings right before he got dismissed. Apparently, he wanted Fede Valverde, Frenkie de Jong, Alexis Mac Allister, and even Harry Kane. The board turned him down, saying it was ‘unrealistic.’ Anyone else think maybe he was aiming too high, or could these signings have actually helped?
I mean, those players are definitely top-tier, but yeah, it feels a bit like a wishlist for a dream team. Man Utd’s got big financial issues, right?

Yep, they’re in the middle of a whole financial restructure. Not really the best time for superstar signings, lol.

What’s financial restructuring mean here? Just a fancy way of saying they’re broke?
@Lior
Exactly! They’re trying to fix past spending, so shelling out more cash for these players was never gonna fly.
Honestly, kinda crazy that he thought they’d get Harry Kane. Bayern just signed him, and he’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

Right? And Real Madrid would never let Valverde go, especially to a team that’s not even in the top half of the Premier League right now.
They’ve already spent like €700 million since Ten Hag took over. Think it’s more about how they’re managing the squad than needing more star players.

Totally agree. It’s not like they haven’t spent money – just maybe not on the right players.

€700 million… dang, that’s a lot. And they’re still struggling?
What was Ten Hag even thinking? He’s gotta know Man Utd’s board isn’t exactly throwing cash around like it used to.

Maybe he was just desperate for a quick fix? Those players could def make a difference, but not in this budget climate.
It’s a shame though. With those players, United could’ve really turned things around. Guess we’ll never know.

Yeah, imagine United with Valverde and de Jong in midfield… would’ve been .

True, but the whole squad would need to play better, not just rely on new signings.
