I’m considering taking legal action against my former employer for personal injury and harassment. They made my life a mess—locking me out of my email and laying me off right after I asked for some time off. I’d also informed them about a close friend’s suicide, and their response was pretty cold. Since leaving, I’ve realized being around the wrong people was the issue, and I’ve been doing better mentally. There’s already an investigation into them for other reasons, and I’m wondering if moving forward with a lawsuit would even help. Any advice?
I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. If you have solid evidence, like emails or texts, a lawsuit could definitely be worth considering.

Thanks. I do have some records saved, but I’m not sure if it’s enough to make a strong case.

Even a few clear examples can help. It’s always good to have a lawyer review them for you.
You should talk to an employment lawyer ASAP. They can guide you on how to proceed without interfering with the investigation.

That’s a good point. I just don’t want to make things more complicated for the investigation.

Sometimes a lawsuit can actually support the investigation by highlighting patterns of misconduct. A lawyer can help you navigate that.
If their actions hurt your mental health and career, you’re absolutely within your rights to hold them accountable.

Thank you for saying that. I just feel unsure about whether it’s the right thing to do.
Make sure to document everything. Dates, events, and conversations can really strengthen your case if you decide to move forward.

I have a lot saved already, but I think I need to organize it better. Thanks for the reminder!
Taking legal action might help you find closure. Holding people accountable can be an important part of healing.

You’re right. It might be a way to move forward from everything that happened.
