I’m considering getting an electric crank tongue jack in place of my manual one.
Which brands are best to avoid at all costs and which brands do you recommend for people who have already done this?
On the internet, I can get them for anywhere from $100 to $500. There are many “it quit after 6 uses” and similar one-star evaluations, even for those with 85% 5-star ratings.

Howdy buddies,
a trailer’s tongue can be raised and lowered with an electric tongue jack, which is a mechanized variation of the conventional manual jack. The trailer is raised and lowered using an electric motor, which is considerably simpler and faster than hand cranking.

I swapped my manual jack for an electric one, and it’s a game-changer. But yeah, some brands are a headache. Avoid the cheapies around $100—they might leave you stranded after a few uses. I went with a mid-range one around $250, and it’s been smooth sailing. Brands like Lippert are pretty solid from my experience, but I’d steer clear of those too-good-to-be-true deals. Worth spending a bit more for peace of mind.

Hi, Blossom. I bought a Lippert and have been satisfied with it. It is sluggish, but it is preferable to cranking by hand. I am not sure about other brands, but a Lippert can be adjusted to tilt the head 90 degrees, allowing you to access the tailboard. It’s the major reason I purchased it.
