Using sound deadening (CLD) as a moisture barrier… Is it worth it?

I’m thinking about using sound deadening (CLD) material in my doors to help with moisture. Has anyone tried this? Will it help keep water out or just make things worse? Any advice would be appreciated.

What size speakers are you mounting? I recently had silicone NVX baffles mounted around my 6.5" speakers in my door, which gets wet sometimes. The shop said the baffles fit perfectly, and leaving the back open helps with bass response.

I’m mounting 6.5" speakers. I’ve never heard of silicone baffles before. Are they better than sealing the back? I’ve had water inside the door (the seals are old), so I’m not sure if leaving the back open would work for me.

Edit: Never mind, I didn’t read your answer properly…

It really depends on how bad the water issue is. I had mold on my old speakers before putting in the new ones with the baffles, but the old ones kept working. The baffle should help limit moisture from getting directly on your speaker.

I’m from Europe too, and I ordered mine from Amazon.com.

Were the shipping costs really high? Maybe it’s different for each country, but for me the shipping is usually more than the item itself.

@JamesHenry
It was €40 total.
