Someone tell me why rangefinders are worth it and explain how they compare to viewfinders in terms of advantages and disadvantages?
I am considering getting a Mamiya 7 because it is a fantastic camera, but I’m hesitant due to the price and the fact that it has a rangefinder. I have only ever used viewfinders before.
Compared to SLRs, rangefinders are quieter and provide more accurate focusing, especially in low light. They feature colorful frames for composition and are small. But they are not good at gazing through the lens and have trouble with close-ups. Although they are bigger, viewfinders offer TTL viewing.
