Wat's ypur thought on Hyenas

Would a hyena eat cloth if he wanted to, and how long would it take for him to digest it?

Hyenas like straight-up meat left, right, and center. It’s an odd question. I’d like to think it’d be like most animals—sits in their system till they poop it out.

They can’t digest it. It would simply move through their system or cause impaction.

I think they could digest it. They can digest meat, bone, skin, and such, so fabric shouldn’t be a problem.

You seem to have some weird fetish involving animals eating clothing… that’s definitely odd. I’m not sure how or why that intrigues you, but I will put an end to the insane questions. Mammals can’t digest cloth, but that doesn’t mean they can’t eat it. That simple.

@Vere
The fascination started after watching the movie Pippi on the Run, where a couple of cows ate Tommy and Anika’s clothes. One of the cows ate Anika’s long johns, and another ate Tommy’s blue shirt. The movie is on YouTube if you want to see it for yourself.

@Peyton
I don’t think I need to see it, haha. Yes, animals will chew on clothing. My livestock loves to chew on my clothes, hair, jewelry, etc. This is because they are curious and have to explore with their mouths since they don’t have hands. I find it very odd that simply seeing a gag in a movie caused an obsession with this, but to each their own, I suppose.

@Vere
The real obsession started when I was about ten years old and let the calves at my dad’s farm chew on my shirt. Sometimes they would rip off a piece of the shirt, chew on it, and swallow it. I remember a young bull he had who really liked to chew on my shirt. He did this a lot. Even when he was full-grown, he still chewed on my shirt, sometimes ripping off pieces of it and swallowing them. He did this now and then for several years. So I know he had no problem digesting the material.

@Peyton
Well again, he didn’t digest them; he just ate them. There is a difference. lol. I just don’t get why that’s even something someone would care about. It’s just an odd thing to be obsessed with.

@Vere
Well, he did poop out the material as poop. So the material that he ate did get broken down somewhat.

@Peyton
They cannot. They also can’t digest hair or horns. Meat and skin are flesh; we can digest that, of course, they can. They can also digest bone because of how acidic their stomach is. Fabric, especially synthetic material, cannot be digested. It would take an acidity level of 0 to break down fabric. Hyenas, which have one of the most acidic stomachs of all mammals, are around 1.6, meaning even they can’t digest cloth. However, they eat it anyway. Like I said, the pieces of cloth will simply pass through their system but not be digested.

@Vere
Ok. Now I see.
