That’s a pet hamster. He may have escaped or was possibly abandoned. If you plan to keep him, here’s some care info: How to Care for Your Hamster | PetMD

If the wound is red and puffy, it could be infected. See a doctor just in case. Rabies is unlikely with hamsters, but check with a shelter or vet to be sure. It looks like a lost pet; ask around or consider taking it in.

It’s a hamster. The bite might hurt but you’ll be fine. Please take it to a shelter so it doesn’t get hurt outside.

Looks like a Syrian hamster. Probably female since there are no obvious signs of being male. Females can be difficult pets due to stress behaviors. Ensure you wash any bites and monitor for signs of infection.

It’s a hamster. I was once bitten by a classroom pet hamster that was misunderstood. With proper care, it became friendly. Your little one might just need a comfortable and safe environment.

Poor little hamster. Please take care of it!

We took him to the pet shelter yesterday. We live in a remote village, so I think someone abandoned him. :disappointed:

@Reese
He’s lucky you found him. Great job!

Correction: *thank you

It does look like a hamster. If you’re concerned about the bite, monitor for redness or swelling and see a doctor if needed.

Check with local wildlife authorities if you live in an area with European hamsters; they’re endangered and may need special care.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I’ll keep him until Monday and visit a vet and shelter. Unfortunately, I can’t keep him due to my cats, but I’ll do my best in the meantime.

Be mindful of what you feed hamsters; some foods can cause bloating and other issues.

A chubby hamster, for sure.

Looks like an escaped pet hamster. Keep an eye on any bite-related issues, and don’t hesitate to get medical advice.

Potential hawk prey. Maybe consider learning falconry?

Hammie!
