I noticed these empty buttons on my car’s console. What are they for, and is it possible to remove them?

People call them ‘poverty buttons’ as a joke. They’re placeholders for features that aren’t included in your car’s version, like heated seats or other add-ons. Usually, you can’t just remove them without replacing the whole panel.
@Harper
Sometimes these spots are used for adding extra switches, but yeah, they’re usually where fancier features go in higher-end models.
Yep, they’re often called ‘poverty buttons.’ It’s just a joke, though, no offense intended. These buttons are usually built into the panel and aren’t easy to pop out without leaving holes. You’d probably need to replace the entire panel if you wanted to change the look.
Poverty buttons? Lol.
If this is a Mitsubishi, those blank buttons might be for optional heated seats.
You might be able to pop them out from underneath the console, depending on the car model.
