What can I do about bullying in my daughter’s school club?

My daughter and her friends were officers in a school club, but recently the president and co-president pushed them out without warning. They locked them out of the Google Classroom and set up a new leadership group. The girls are devastated. Anyone know what we can do in a situation like this? It seems really unfair.

That sounds like a tough situation. I would definitely talk to the school about their anti-bullying policy. Have they given you any reason for what happened?

Not really. We’ve been trying to get answers, but no one seems to want to deal with it. It feels like they’re just ignoring us.

I’d push for a meeting with the principal. Schools usually have to follow certain procedures when it comes to stuff like this.

It definitely sounds like bullying. You should ask to see the school’s policy on bullying and exclusion. It could give you some leverage when talking to the administration.

Good idea, I hadn’t thought of that. I’ll check the school’s website for their policy. Hopefully, it’ll help.

Yeah, a lot of schools are required to have those policies posted online. That way, you can point out if they’re not following their own rules.

Wait, so the presidents were backed by an outside nonprofit? That makes things even trickier. Maybe you could contact the nonprofit directly and let them know what’s going on.

We tried reaching out to the nonprofit, but they’re pretending like they don’t know what’s going on. It’s been super frustrating.

Wow, that’s messed up. You might need a lawyer to get the school and the nonprofit to take this seriously.

I’m so sorry to hear this. Definitely document everything and try to get it all in writing. If you end up needing to go further with this, having a paper trail will help.

Thanks, I’ll make sure we keep track of everything. I just hate that it’s come to this.

It’s tough, but keeping those records will help you later on, especially if you need to escalate things.

I agree with everyone else here. It might be worth talking to a lawyer, especially if the school and the nonprofit aren’t doing anything to fix this. Good luck!

Thanks! We’re looking into getting legal help. I just hope things get resolved soon for the girls.
