Green energy stocks might go down in the short term.
Remember Trump thinks wind turbines cause cancer. I doubt he’ll be friendly toward the industry.
Most green subsidies will likely be reduced or cut. The ones that may stick around are for companies that backed Trump, like Tesla. Expect electric vehicle sales (minus Tesla) to dip.
Residential-focused green companies may struggle, but grid-scale providers should be okay. I’d expect a drop across the board in the short term, though.
TAN has been struggling for a while, regardless of the election.
I just sold ICLN at a loss and put it into CNRG instead.
Trump has criticized wind power pretty openly. He’s more supportive of solar, but it’s not a great environment for green energy stocks under him.
My strategy: Short lithium, short renewable energy stocks, and go long on oil and gas.
FLNC, NEE, TSLA might be the picks to look at.
This article mentions Trump saying, “If you have a windmill near your house, it drops the value by 75% and the noise causes cancer.”
@Rayne
He’s had some harsh words for wind, but he’s actually said he’s a fan of solar.
