What is PUA:Win32/Vigua.A and how do I remove it?

I got a notification on my Windows Security about a file called ‘PUA:Win32/Vigua.A.’ I’m wondering if this is a false positive or if it’s a real threat. If it’s not a false positive, how do I remove it from my computer?

You should be able to remove it using Windows Defender. You can also download Malwarebytes and run a scan with that. Both programs are effective at cleaning up malware when detected on your PC.

It says unable to block this app. When I run a quick scan, it says there are no malware detected.

Have you done a full scan with Windows Defender? Also, try scanning with Malwarebytes. Completing both scans can help ensure the file is removed. You can also do a startup scan with Windows Defender to make sure the virus won’t reinstall when your computer boots up. PUA stands for Potentially Unwanted Application. These are usually bundled with installers, so you have to be careful not to install them.
