What is this part on my Jeep wiring?

I’ve got a 2012 Jeep Compass Latitude. There’s a part on the wiring harness in the middle of the engine bay, close to the fuel injectors. It’s grounded, but I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be a ground point or some kind of sensor. Any ideas?

That looks like a noise capacitor or filter. It seems like it’s a factory part.

I thought it might be a sensor, but I’m not sure what it’s actually for.

You nailed it with the name and part number! I’ve been searching for days and even tried asking around at AutoZone and O’Reilly’s. Big thanks for the help!

That’s an ignition capacitor.

The part number for the 2.4L engine is 04606866AA. These don’t usually cause problems, though.

I’m not sure if there’s a problem. Is it supposed to be grounded? If it is, then it’s fine. If not, I’ll clean the contact points or just get a new one.
